A sports car with no glamour: Marussia B1

We can write a lot about the country of wodka, crazy YouTube movies and of course Lada. Last year, we visited the capital of Russia, Moscow. This year we hope to bring you some specials again, in January. A brand where we don’t know much about is Marussia. A Russian manufacturer who wants to conquer the market with their Marussia B1 and B2. But the car misses something what Italian cars do have, glamour.

That’s strange, because the cars from Marussia are definitely not ugly. But glamour isn’t something you immediately will get, you have to build your image over the years. Marussia is only a young player in the market. The B1 is a powerful designed sports car which would fit in perfect in Monaco or St. Tropez. But the car has a sort of ‘Matchbox’ grade in it, something Porsche or Ferrari doesn’t have. You would think that you would have 600 or 700 bhp in this car, no you don’t. Marussia choose to place small engines in their cars. Marussia offers two engines. A 2.8 liters V6 with 420 bhp and a lighter version is the 2.8 liters V6 with 300 bhp. The turbo engine brings you to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and the top speed of the car is just over 250 km/h, this is not very spectacular nowadays. We still haven’t seen much copies yet on Autogespot so it looks like the car isn’t very popular.
