Bentley Mulsanne Convertible isn't coming

Bentley made a small change in their plans. They do come up with a enormous SUV in the future but they won’t come up with an ultra luxurious cabriolet as successor of the Azure. That’s what Bentley’s CEO, Wolfgang Schreiber, announced in an interview with Car and Driver during the Motor Show in Frankfurt.

That’s a shame of course. The Bentley Azure is still one of the most imposing cabriolets together with the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé. Bentley has the opinion that a cabriolet would be successful on only a few markets but the demand just isn’t big enough. Markets which will be interesting for the Mulsanne Convertible are the United States and some specific places in Europe, including the south of France.

Last year, 1169 copies of the Mulsanne were sold and the profit will be used for the development of the SUV which will be available in three years. Maybe, Bentley will change their decision later on because now Rolls-Royce rules this segment.
