Now that the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 is introduced, Audi can start testing the new R8. Customers probably won’t be very happy when the R8 is introduced at the same time as the Huracán, with the same technology and a lower price. That’s why Audi started testing after Geneva and meanwhile the new R8 is already caught on camera!
The new R8 will be introduced in about a year to stimulate the sales of the Huracán. The R8 was already spotted before but we’ve never seen the R8 with this camouflage before. We can guess what this R8 will look like. We can see several styling elements from the Audi TT in the head- and taillights of the car.
The new R8 will get a completely new designed aluminum chassis with even some carbon fiber. Audi did this to increase the weight of the car. The weight of the new R8 will be around 1500 kilograms. Of course, the R8 GT will lose even more weight.
Engine-wise, the R8 will be available in two versions. The V8 and the V10 will return in the new R8 and the V10 will probably produce less than 600 hp to not compete with the Huracán. Shifting gears won’t happen with a manual gearbox, this won’t be available anymore, just like it isn’t available for the Huracán anymore.
