Sporty driving or relaxed cruising. We suggest to do the last with the S 63 AMG Coupé. His weight influences the handling, despite the Airmatic air suspension with adaptive damping and Ads Plus, and it will never be a car you would use on the track. Customers can choose between the Magic Body Control or Airmatic system. The 4Matic is standard equipped with Airmatic. This system comes together with a special adjustment to the front wheels and a stiffer construction for the sub frame on the rear axle. The 4Matic system will always make sure that you’ll have maximum grip. 33 percent of the traction is permanently sent to the front wheels and this results in 67 percent on the rear wheels. The exhaust system gives you a choice in different sounds. With the transmission in the Controlled Efficiency mode, the valves are mostly closed. You won’t hear much from the V8 unless you floor the pedal. In the Sport and Manual mode, the valves will open more often and more spontaneous, especially for those with a more dynamic driving style. The sound is like we’re used to from an AMG!

Still we can find some improvements for the AMG, the relatively slow gearbox. Every now and then the gearbox needs a moment to think. When the gearbox is in manual mode, you will need to shift gears far before the red line otherwise the rev limiter will kick in because the gearbox needs some time to respond. The seven speed AMG Speedshift transmission might need to be a bit faster, shifting gears itself is fluent with maximum suppleness.

In the interior the new, big but lovely AMG Seats stand out. Besides the fact that they look beautiful they’re also equipped with great massage functions like a hot stone massage for example and they sit very comfortable. Next to that the S 63 AMG has the Air-Balance package which can perfume the car thanks to a perfume atomizer in the glovebox. The Air-Balance package ionizes the air in the interior which has a refreshing effect. The new touchpad is something you will need to get used to but works flawlessly after a few hours.

All in all the S 63 AMG Coupé is a phenomenal car and a real road hog with sporty ambitions. There’s enough power but in corners this isn’t the best car we’ve driven. Just let the AMG do what it does best and it won’t disappoint you. The comfort in the car is unknown and that’s exactly why you buy this AMG.
