In contrary to iPhones, sometimes a car increases in value when a new version is (about to be) released. This is what happened to the Ford GT. Especially during the selection process the old Ford GT experienced an increase in value because many people thought they would have a higher chance of getting selected for the new GT if their collection included an old GT. In hindsight this may not have mattered much to Ford but that's a topic for another day. The Ford GT is worth a lot more today than when it was released. Luckily this doesn't withhold some owners of still driving the car, especially in the United States. Unfortunately not everyone is as as careful/wise when they take it out, which is confirmed by this crash.
The owner (or driver) of this blue and white Ford GT, which is in my opinion one of the best specs for the GT, didn't seem to care much about their car. According to bystanders the driver of the crashed GT was under the influence of alcohol when he pressed the throttle too hard, next to a park where kids were playing, which resulted in this crash. He lost control of the car and crashed into a parked BMW X5 while, according to bystanders, having a young girl in the passenger seat. The girl was taken to a hospital with a broken hand while the driver was arrested by the SFPD. According to Nextdoor (a 'neighbourhood social media website') the owner of the GT was visited by the police earlier this week after neighbors reported gunshots coming from inside his house. Because the Nextdoor posts are only visible to residents of that particular neighbourhood I could not confirm this unfortunately.

The owner of this Ford GT owns many other cars that are often spotted in the Bay Area. During my time in SF I passed by his house by coincidence and found an Alpina Z8, Porsche 918 and this ford GT parked in front. According to his neighbor the 918 was used as a daily driver, which the damage on the car (not visible in the pics) seemed to confirm.
