Spotted: Aston Martin AMV8 N24

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a wonderful, stylish and sophisticated piece of British engineering. Yes, it's fast but not fast enough to race in it ofcourse. When you start to race in a car like this you don’t need all the extra weight and gadgets. So if you want to race the V8 Vantage you should buy the Aston Martin V8 N24. That is a proper racing car without any comfort.

Just look at the N24 as the Superleggera or Scuderia version of Aston Martin. The British car manufacturer dropped a few pounds and gained some power. Unfortunately the N24 isn’t street legal. N24 is an abbreviation for Nürburgring 24h race, so it’s a hardcore racecar. Spotter Arjan found this car in a truck, the owner just got back from a trip to Magny-Cours. This means that the car is used for what it’s made.

As said before, the N24 is a proper racecar. All the luxury you’re used to find in an Aston Martin is gone. The car has tow bars, a lot of carbon fibre, plastic windows and a roll bar, just to be prepared for a race. The most impressive system must be the automatic jacks. Near the bonnet you press an air hose onto the car, this will raise the car on little stands so it’s easy to change the tires really fast. The interior is made out of alcantara and a lot of aluminium tubing. The N24 still has a wonderful V8 under the bonnet, the power has been raised to 410 bhp, 30 more than the street legal version. The car also visited Weightwatchers and lost an impressive 250 kilo. So you can understand this has become a monster. 100 km/h will be reached in four seconds, the handling is perfect for track use.

You may have seen the episode of Top Gear with a yellow Aston Martin N24. James May drove this car, you could tell this wasn’t a car meant for the open road. Still, some people managed to make this car street legal, with a lot of luck you can spot one. If you think of buying one you’ll have to bring 80.000 pound to Aston Martin.
