Rolls Royce joins the Bentley segment

The time of the modern Rolls Royce under supervision of BMW doesn’t seem to be at an end yet, because a smaller and cheaper Rolls Royce will hit the market shortly for society’s would-be pimp-daddy’s who are just a bit too ‘short on their dough’ for the real deal (and of course for the people who love Rolls Royce and will now finally be able to afford one).

On Autoexpress we found some spy-pics of this ‘baby-Rolls’ which will join the car market in 2009. Its big brother, the Phantom, actually only had the Maybach as a competitor. This little fellow will face some more competition, however. One of these is Volkwagen’s Flying Spur. The ‘little’ newcomer will cost a not-so-little €250.000 to €300.000. Which is still €200.000 less than the Phantom. But that seems to be the only really big difference. The difference in length, for example, will only be 30 centimetres. Passengers will still find extraordinary luxury in the back. Rolls Royce says your legs will have the same ammount of space as in a Maybach 57, but for approximately €250.000 less.

We can expect the first official pictures at the end of 2008, when this model will be shown on the bigger carshows. For now, we’ll have to be satisfied with this sketch.
