Volvo 745 races a Yamaha R1

Volvo, the ultimate family car according to many people. Especially the old “box like” cars were very suited to carry a group of kids and luggage. However there is a small group of enthusiasts who like to tune their cars to the max. On Youtube we found a Volvo 745 that has a little more power than standard.

According to the source, the owner of this car has put the engine of a Corvette in to his Volvo. The result is 750 to 800 hp, extreme for such a family car. Imagine an owner of a brand-new RS6 that wants to do a short sprint at the traffic lights against this Box with four exhausts. He’ll probably just look like a fool with his 580 hp.
The sprint in the video, against a Yamaha R1, has a bizarre ending. The R1 is one of the fastest motorcycles in the world, but even though, the Volvo stays in front of it. The speedometer of the R1 is very clear about the speed. It’s marked in miles, and 180 mph is about the same as 290 km/h. You can clearly see that the Volvo is still going faster than the motorcycle at that moment, so the topspeed is probably way above 300 km/h. This Volvo may be ugly, but with this kind of power is becomes an extraordinary device. Above that it is a car that a lot of the current supercars couldn’t compete against.
