News from the 2008 Detroit Motor Show

A new year always brings new shows. A few days ago we already gave you a report about the 86th European Motor Show in Brussels. The Detroit Motor Show also had a few very nice cars in their show. We’ve listed the most exiting news for you.

Maybach Landaulet
A while ago we’ve shown you pictures of the Maybach 62S Landaulet. In Detroit the Landaulet made its debut for the American market. This luxurious car is specially made for the rich and famous, Arabic sheiks and other big spenders.

Corvette ZR1
620 bhp from a 6.2 litre V8. Some figures from the engine from the ZR1, the new Corvette. At Corvette they think this ZR1 can beat the Porsche 997 GT2, Ferrari 599 and the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640. We’ll just have to wait and see, we think this Corvette will be beaten on the track, due to the fact that most American cars don’t corner very well.

BMW 1-series Convertible
Convertibles are of course not forgotten in Detroit. BMW has revealed its new 1-series convertible, a small car with a big engine. This will be a spectacular car, especially in the summer it will give you a lot of fun. According to BMW it’s a fuel efficient car, this means it should be a environmental friendly car.

Lexus LF-A convertible
Toyota... uhhh Lexus will show a really impressive convertible. It’s the Lexus LF-A convertible. This futuristic looking car has got no less than 500 bhp under the bonnet. This way it can compete with some big players in the car industry. We love to see this car driving around the public roads!

Ferrari F430 Spider Bio Fuel
Most car companies use the environment to introduce new environmental friendly cars. Producers of supercars, like Ferrari also think about the environment. Probably a smart move, the sooner people start accepting bio-Ferrari’s the better. Just don’t take this concept to serious. It will drive on E85 fuel, this is in almost no country available. This fuel can be bought in Sweden, but the Swedish don’t buy many Ferrari’s. The engine should work better on this fuel, the power should rise with 10 bhp to an impressive 500 bhp and the fuel consumption will drop by 5%.

Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
The new Lancer has made his debut in Detroit. The downgraded engine from the Evo X will still produce 240 bhp. The amount of torque this engine will produce is not known by us at this moment. This smaller version of the Evo X will be a lot better to handle, this doesn’t make the Ralliart any less fun.

Lamborghini Ad Personam
A while ago we’ve already presented the Lamborghini Ad Personam program. At this moment there are so much Gallardo’s and Murciélago’s driving around that some drivers want something to stand out from the crowd. The Ad Personam programme is exactly what this does. You can pick the colours for both the exterior and interior for your Lamborghini. What about the Reventon colour on your Gallardo or an Alcantara interior, everything is possible.

Mitsubishi Concept-RA
Diesel is the fuel to have! Audi already introduced the R8 V12 TDI and now Mitsubishi introduces the Ra. The Ra won’t get a V12, but a 2.2 litre clean diesel. This engine will produce 204 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. Will this be the next trend in the car industry after white and mat-black?

Fisker Karma
The Fisker Karma will be powered by an electric engine. The batteries for this engine can be found in the middle of the car. According to Henrik Fisker this will be the future. These batteries will be charged by a petrol or diesel engine. If you want it’s also possible to get solar panels on the roof of the car. This car will cost around 80.000, dollar, not too much for an environmental friendly sportscar.

Alpine Sinister Six and RLS
Alpine USA has been tuning a lot of nice cars! The next victims are the BMW 645i and Mercedes R500. Always wanted to know what you could do with a car and 3500 hours of spare time? The Alpine BMW Sinister Six will give you the answer, and the Imprint RLS will happily join. This “BMW” will have 26” dubz in the front, at the back it even rolls on 30” propellers. Where are the TFT’s? Next!
