Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris production starts in 2009

The pride of Holland, Spyker, is doing a bit better lately. Victor Müller went back to Spyker and some investers have put a lot of money in the company. Let's hope this Dutch car manufacturer will be around for a long time. This means it’s time to present you all the Spyker news of the last few weeks.

In March, at the carshow of Geneva, Spyker will reveal the long-wheel-based C8. In 2009, the first super SUV’s will find their way to their owners. According to Spyker there was too much interest for this car, hopefully it’ll be a great success for the little car manufacturer from Zeewolde. The last months of 2007 were a disaster for Spyker, they sold only four cars. Spyker used to put the W12 engine from Volkswagen in their C8. This will stop because Volkswagen is taking the W12 out of production. Spyker will probably start using American engines due to the financial benefits. As long as the original Spyker noise will be kept alive!

Thanks to an investor, Snoras, the production in 2008 can go on. A few weeks ago, Snoras expanded its interest in the company to 40%. Because of the large amount of money this bank has “given” to Spyker, the company is saved. Within three years Spyker should be able to make a profit. The American engines we told you about should help out. Due to the low US dollar value, American engines can be bought pretty cheap. The low rate of the dollar also has a huge disadvantage, America is a huge market for sportscars. Spyker is back in business, this is the main conclusion. The F1 adventure was nice while it lasted. Now Spyker can concentrate purely on building extreme sportscars!
