Did you know 6

Enough facts can be found in the automotive world. Among those facts are “fun” ones, as well as more “serious” ones. That’s why we have already posted a “Did you know” special several times. Now it is time for part six .

1. Did you know... the record for acceleration with standard productioncars without a turbo or supercharger, is still in the hands of Belgium carmanufacturer Gillet Vertigo? The car uses an Alfa Romeo Engine and accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.22 seconds.

2. Did you know... a Dutch guy has bought a Rolls Royce Phantom in Belgium and registrated it with license plate BPM-000? He saved more than 150.000 euros by doing this.

3. Did you know... that BMW made one prototype of the M8 a long while ago? However, they thought they wouldn’t be able to sell enough of them. But don't be sad cause when you'd trace the framenumber (VIN, Vehicle Identification Number) of the 850CSi, you would find that it has officially been made by BMW Motorsport, and not by BMW AG. In other words, not as great as the prototype, but still a little bit M8.

4. Did you know...there's a Ferrari Enzo with a targa-roof?

5. Did you know... that the rims on the Continental GT Speed only fit on the GT speed? These rims are not available on the aftersales for the normal GT. You can only get a rim for a Speed when you pay a reasonably high amount of 6.400 euros. When a rim is damaged, and Bentley will not be able to repair it, the rim will be sent to Crewe and replaced with a new one for 1.400 euros. Bentley hereby tries to limit the "faking" of the Continental GT Speed edition.

6. Did you know...the hood of a Pagani Zonda F weighs so little, that you can lift it up with only four fingers?

7. Did you know...that in total 41 Ferrari F40's are, or have been registered in the Netherlands?

8. Did you know... Ferrari fitted springs behind the seats of the 612 Sessanta, so you don't hurt your back when you pull up very fast?

9. Did you know...there are only four robots in the complete Rolls Royce factory? These are used in the paiting area where al the large panels and the frame are painted. All the other parts are painted by hand.

10. Did you know...the Project Kahn rims on a SLR are completely fabricated out of carbon fibre, and that they are therefore superlight? If you want these rims mounted on your SLR, you'll have to pay a visit to Kahn and pay about 10.000 euros.
