You've never seen this before, a new exclusive SLR

You have never seen this before.... That is how the email started that we received last night about a new model from Mercedes-Benz. It is a supercar in the price-range of the Veyron and will be highly exclusive with a limited production of 75 pieces.

It will be a modern intepretation of the car which Stirling Moss drived in the Mille Miglia with two small frontwindows and a little bit of SLR-flavour. This will probably be the final model of the SLR-series. The car will not have a roof at all, so it's not going to be a targa and it's not going to be a convertible. McLaren's SLR jumps back to the time when they introduced the first SLR.

The final SLR was introduced to a happy few last week at the Paul Ricard racetrack. We do not know the full specifications, but we do know that this final SLR will get a modified SLR 722 engine , codenamed Z199.

This supercar will not be introduced at a big carshow. Some people say that this car will be presented to the world at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but we do not know for sure. Our well informed source said that the introduction will be at the end of this year and the owners will receive their car at the summer of 2009.

To give you a small impression of the super-SLR we will show you a picture of the F400 Carving. This is a fully open car and has two small frontwindows. Just like the SLR of Stirling Moss. This is not a picture of how the Z199 will be!
