Audi is almost ready to compete with the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Porsche 997 Turbo. Tough competition required the R8 to be upgraded with a new engine, a V10! The R8 is one of the best selling cars from Ingolstadt, Autogespot has 1600 R8 spots online! To team up with Lamborghini and Porsche, the R8 got a new 5.2 liter FSI V10 engine and luckily, it's been spotted in Granada, Spain!
Spotter "sladar" ran into this red R8 in the snowy mountains of Granada. Instantly we can see that this is no ordinary R8, the lower area of the carbon sideblades are a lot wider to make sure the R8 V10 gets a lot of extra air to cool the engine. Another aspect is its grille, some parts got chromed instead of being black. We noticed this on Audi's S-line models. Of course this R8 also got some new wheels but we can't really see them that well from this angle. We'll have to wait for new photos for that.
Customer cars will be leaving the factory for the first time in the second quarter of 2009. Who will spot the second R8 V10?
