Geneva 2010: Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Hybrid

We're going to talk about a green Ferrari. Yes, a green Ferrari. Not only has this car been painted green, the engine inside it could also be called green. A green solution for the environment, that's probably what Ferrari thought when they designed the 599 GTB Fiorano Hybrid. Yes, a hybrid Ferrari. This is the first time Ferrari built a hybrid car and we're pretty sure this is part of Ferrari's future.

The car's weight has increased by one hundred kilos. You have to leave those batteries somewhere. Ferrari will also be using the KERS-system in this car. KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems. This allows the energy released from the brakes to be stored. The energy will be available when the engine needs extra power, temporarily of course. This technique comes straight from Formula One where this system has been used for a while now. According to Ferrari, the 599 GTB Fiorano Hybrid performs better than a standard 599 GTB Fiorano. There will be a presentation by Ferrari tomorrow at two pm, Geneva-time and hopefully we'll be able to get you more information shortly afterwards.
