Spotted: Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800 by Hennessy

There are some hugely powerful cars in the Netherlands. What to think of a Ferrari Enzo with 660 bhp, an Audi RS6 with 700 bhp or a Gemballa Cayenne with 750 bhp. Last week an American was spotted that would pulvirise these cars in a straight line, a Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800 from Hennessy. A monstrous SUV of which only 50 will be ever made.

This is a very special Grand Cherokee SRT-8. We drove (Dutch article) the normal SRT-8 before and we experienced that this is an extremely fast SUV. For not so much money you have a car that could give a lot of sportscars a hard time, but only in a straight line.

This car is capable of much, much more because of the massive amount of cubic inches the engine has. Take Hennessy, an American tuner, it has been tuning all sorts of American cars for for years. This SRT-8 was also a project. You can choose a 600 bhp version but the car that was spotted in Wageningen has a breathtaking 800 bhp! That is almost twice the amount the standard Grand Cherokee SRT-8 has, being 425 bhp.

The car was in the US a long time to be converted into a true supercar killer. This monster only needs about three seconds to accelarate to 100 km/h! The engine got two turbo’s and a lot of other addaptions have been made to acheive this amount of power. Think about the transmission, the differential and practically every part of the engine have been reinforced or replaced with better materials. The result may be called impressive.

We received some pictures in our mailbox that confirm that this is a 800 bhp version. At first there was a discussion about wether this car was real or not. Only 50 will be built and that is a very small amount. Most of the cars will be sold oversees. This is a genuine topspot, in spite of the fact that American cars are less pupolair than European sportscars. Untill you get into this SUV and let Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s bite the dust.
