It looks like the R8 V12 TDI will really be produced. The engine has already been used during the 24 hours of Le Mans and on a short term this engine will also be put in the Q7 V12 TDI. Clearly a reliable engine and it won't, like the V10 turn your R8 into a smoldering pile of metal.

Now some figures that are available about the engine. The TDI will deliver 500 bhp with an impressive 1000 Nm of traction. From a standing start 100 km/h (60 mph) will be reached in 4.2 seconds, the top speed will be above 300 km/h (180 mph). All the luggage space is gone, due to the size of the engine and the larger cooling vents which are needed to please the V12. It might be a good idea to start using the carbon blades for a change.
