Ford returns to Le Mans with their new Ford GT

Last weekend, Ford announced that they will return in one of the most prestigious car races in the world. Ford does this with a new racing car, the Ford GT, which is based on the new ultra-high-performance supercar which will be availble next year.

Next year, the Ford GT will participated in the 24 hours of Le Mans. Last weekend, the Ford GT was unveiled at this year's edition of the race. The new racing car will be featured in the Le Mans GT Endurance for professional teams and drivers. The new racign car is based on the new Ford GT supercar which was unveiled in January. With the production model and the racing model, Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1966 'sweep' on Le Mans in style. That year, Ford GT racing cars finished first, second and third. Ford also managed to win this race in 1967, 1968 and 1969.

The new Ford GT will participate in all 2016 World Endurance Championship and TUDOR United SportsCar Championship races and it will debut in January 2016 at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in Florida. The two Ford teams will be managed by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
