Geneva 2014: Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is recently completely renewed and fitted with a four-cylinder engine. Yes, a four-cylinder engine. That was some bad news for the Americans but the Europeans were happy with this news. It will be a lot cheaper for fanatics to drive and own a Ford Mustang. Of course you will miss the roar of the V8 but luckily the car still has a great design. Despite the fact that some details changed, overall the model still looks the same.

The four-cylinder engine is a so-called EcoBoost engine. It did surprise us to hear this name together with a car like the Ford Mustang, but Ford did this with a reason. The Ford Mustang is quite rare in Europe and with a lower emission it will be cheaper to drive a Mustang. The four-cylinder engine isn’t a small one. It produces up to 309 hp and 407 Nm of torque, which is almost as much as the 426 hp and 529 hp from the five liters V8. We expect this model in Europe in 2015 and we’re wondering how it will affect the sales.

The exterior looks just a bit better and more aerodynamic than before, without affecting the heritage of the Mustang. The characterizing taillights are still there, the rear side window is small and the nose is pontifical and aggressive. New are bright colours for the Mustang, you can now order you car in some new bright colours. We’re wondering how much owners dare to paint their American Classic in such an outstanding colour. Here on the Geneva Motor Show the styling definitely stands out, just like a Mustang is supposed to do. We like it!
