Geneva 2015: McLaren P1 GTR production model

Last August the track monster of McLaren was unveiled at Pebble Beach. Fortunate customers had the chance to buy the P1 GTR for a price of over one million euros. In return they get a car with an extensive and intensive trainings program to become a racing driver. Today we can meet the production version of the P1 GTR, here in Geneva.

The 1.000 hp strong monster has only a few small adjustments compared with the concept version. The most outstanding adjustment is the livery of the P1 GTR in Geneva. The front axle is 80 millimeters wider than the standard P1 and is also 50 millimeters closer to the ground. Pirelli fits the car with slicks for a maximum grip. The front windshield is still the same but the side windows are replaced by copies made out of polycarbonate. Thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber, the weight of the car is reduced to 50 kilograms compared with the street legal version.

At the back we see a gigantic spoiler which creates ten percent more downforce. The spoiler creates 660 kilograms of downforce at speeds over 200 kph! The wing isn’t solid but can adjusted with the Drag Reduction System. The wing can be tilted from zero to 32 degrees for an optimal air flow. We hope that we will see the P1 GTR during the Pure McLaren track days on Spa Francorchamps or the Nürburgring.
