The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a modern interpretation of the old 300 SL Gullwing. Some owners of an SLS AMG also own a 300 SL Gullwing in the same colour. The type of customers who will buy a SLS Black Series will be bit different, because a Black Series is just really brutal!
Customers of a SLS Black Series are looking for a machine which will smoke their tires at every traffic light, just like we saw in Düsseldorf. The technicians at AMG went to work on the V8 and managed to increase the power from 571 to 631 hp.
The bodywork is a bit wider, 20 millimeters on the front and 24 millimeters at the back. The extra spoilers on the car are not only optical. The Black Series can be used on the track and the carbon fiber spoilers create more downforce for the car. They also reduce the weight with 70 kilograms.
Despite this impressive performance, it wasn’t enough to set a new record on ‘The Hillclimb’.
