Yesterday, the longest day of the Gumball 3000 was waiting for us. Not just seven or eight hours in the car, we had to drive thirteen long hours with outside temperatures near 40 degrees Celsius. Luckily someone discovered air-conditioning a long time ago so it wasn’t that hot inside the car. Team Galag unfortunately did have some problems with the air-conditioning of their Lamborghini Aventador so they flew directly to Las Vegas. Besides that also a lot of nice things happened yesterday!
The morning started great, we had a bad breakfast but we left the hotel in Kansas City with a big group of Gumballers so this made us immediately forget the breakfast. The live stream was working very well and we hope it will also work perfectly today. We hope there will be enough range in the Grand Canyon but we don’t know this for sure. After the departure from Kansas City we hit the highway where we didn’t see much cops. After a few kilometers the first State Troopers showed up and they drove besides our group for a while. Due to a bad choice we lost the group and drove alone for ten hours. The live stream brought you some nice footage because now and then we hit speeds around 280 km/h. After some time we passed some other Gumballers which we photographed perfectly! Shortly after this we got busted and got a ticket for exceeding the speed limit. This resulted in a fine of $68,- from a very friendly police officer. The finish in Santa Fe was phenomenal, it was the same as in Toronto only unorganized with one big crowd gathering around the cars. We left the cars there for a while and left for the hotel to get some food and work on the daily report you’re now reading.
