Lamborghini will extend their range of models with a luxurious SUV. The market introduction of the SUV is planned for 2018. In 2012, the Italian sports car manufacturer introduced the Lamborghini Urus study model at the Beijing Auto Show.
The production of the new model will take place in Sant'Agata Bolognese. An SUV in the range of models next to the Huracán and Aventador offers Lamborghini new options to grow and will increase the production capacity of the company. We expect that Lamborghini will produce around 3.000 SUVs a year. Lamborghini aims at customers from the United States, China, the Middle East, United Kingdom, Germany and Russia with this exclusive SUV. A part of these potential customers are already driving a Lamborghini and also own a luxurious SUV from another company while others will be completely new customers for Lamborghini.
To make it possible to produce the SUV in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini needs to increase the production area of the factory. The factory will be doubled from 80.000 m2 to up to 150.000 m2. Next to that, Lamborghini will recruit almost 500 new employees for the production of the SUV.
