McLaren keeps on extending their range of models. We already knew that the 540C was coming, the only question left was when. Earlier this month we were introduced to the 570S, now it's time to meet the 540C Coupé in Shanghai.
It's easy to guess the power of the car. 540 hp and 570 Nm of torque are produced by the well-known McLaren engine, a 3.8 liter twinturbo V8. This car is less powerful than its brothers but the 540C still won't disappoint us. The car manages to sprint to 100 kph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 330 kph. The sprint from zero to 200 kph takes only 10.5 seconds.
Under the body we find the same carbon fiber chassis as the 570S. The 540C weighs less than the 570S, only 1.311 kilograms. A subtly adjusted body makes the 540C look a bit less sporty than the 570S, although there are only a few small adjustments. The 540C has a new developed suspension which improves the involvement of the driver. This makes the car perfect for use on the track as well as on the streets.
