Almost every sports car manufacturer has a four-seater car nowadays. Porsche started with the Cayenne and many others followed. Ferrari made the FF, Bentley comes with an SUV but McLaren announced they won’t build a four-seater or SUV.
McLaren Automotive keeps on focusing on building sports cars while other rivals are working on SUVs. That’s not McLaren’s core business and they want to keep it that way. McLaren says they’re building the best sports cars in the world and that’s exactly what they want to keep doing.
To keep on growing, McLaren will introduce a new model every year. With a basic price of around 140.000 Euro, the next McLaren will be less expensive than the 650S. In 2017, McLaren wants to sell 4.000 copies a year. This year’s target is 1.600 copies and that’s 200 extra copies compared with last year. We don’t think that this will be a big problem for McLaren.
