Mercedes-AMG has, just like Red Bull and Aston Martin, set their sights on a supercar which is inspired by Formula 1. The expectation is that this car will be unveiled in 2017, the year that AMG celebrates its 50th anniversary.
EVO spoke with someone of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team who confirmed that the car will become reality and is currently in the last phase of designing, just before the real development starts. The source also confirmed that the car will be powered by a 1.6 liter V6 turbo engine which is currently powering the Formula 1 cars. The engine will also be equipped with an energy-recovery system which makes it possible to bring the total power to over 1.000 hp. Just like Aston Martin's hypercar, the design is focusing on aerodynamics.
Despite the fact that this is a new market for Mercedes-AMG we do believe that this will turn into something really amazing. Just imagine the fact driving a street legal car with the sound of a Formula 1 car!
