New Bentley Continental GT3-R will follow next year

The limited Bentley Continental GT3-R was a big success for Bentley. The sportsman is just a herald of an even more sporty version. Bentley will probably come up with a rear-wheel driven version next year. This will be the first rear-wheel driven model in the history of the modern Bentley.

In an interview with Engineering Chief Rolf Frech, he says that a lot of customers expected the GT3-R to have rear-wheel drive. The car had to be ready at the end of the GT3 season which doesn't left them much time to develop a model with rear-wheel drive. The concept of the rear-wheel driven Bentley is still waiting and it's only a matter of time before Bentley will start the development. With the recently introduced facelift, Bentley has plenty of time to develop a second GT3-R.

The most important fact in the development is the reduction of the weight. Bentleys are always heavyweights with a weight of over 2000 kilograms and that's why Bentley wants to build a more lightweight car. This will affect the luxury in the interior but it will improve the performance and sportiness of the car. This even more extreme Bentley will be built in a limited edition according to AutoCar.
