When the 918 Spyder was introduced, the new supercar by Porsche wasn't that popular but as soon as the first reviews were made the tide was turn and everybody became enthusiastic about the 918 Spyder. Meanwhile the car is sold out but where can we find most of the copies?
Porsche has a few very important markets, Germany, the United States and China. The United States gets up to 297 copies of the 918 Spyder. In China and Germany around 100 copies were sold. We don't exactly know how many copies went to the other countries all over the world. A total of 918 copies will be build. Next to that, head R&D, Wolfgang Hatz, confirmed the fact that Porsche will build a successor, but it will take another ten year before we can expect this car on the streets.
The Porsche 918 Spyder produces up to 895 hp. The sprint to 100 kph takes 2.8 seconds and the top speed is over 330 kph. Thanks to the combination of the electric drivetrain and the V8 the Porsche isn't only very powerful but also very economic. It should be able to use only 3.0 to 3.3 liter gasoline per 100 kilometers.
Extra option is the Weissach package. The Weissach package sharpens the car and reduces the weight with 35 kilograms thanks to the use of carbon fiber. A cool feature is the replacement of the paint by a wrap, just like the Martini copy we've seen on Autogespot.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is the first production car with a lap time under seven minutes on the Nürburgring. Racing legend Walter Rohrl managed to drive a lap in the 918 Spyder in just 6 minutes and 57 seconds.
