Sober in grey: The 2012 Audi S8
The new Audi S8 is brutal. More luxurious and faster than the old one, but too bad it has ‘only’ 8 instead of 10 cylinders. That’s why the car maybe will be less exciting for us spotters, because the V10 was a great and very special engine. The sound was superb, the same story with the performance. At the exterior, the S8 is like the old model, not very striking and only recognizable by some small details. Spotter Wesley photographed these details beautifully.
The first we see is the grill. There is much more chrome than at the slower models, which gives it a more luxurious look. At the sides, we see the typical matte silver rearview mirrors. This will make you clear that this is a S- or RS-model, even from a long distance. The V8 under the bonnet makes a great sound, but of course the sound from the S63/65 AMG is even better. This V8 delivers 520 bhp, that’s 70 more than the old one! Now you will do 0-62 mph sprint in just 4.2 seconds. The top speed is, as normal, limited to 155 mph. It all sounds very nice, we hope the new S8 will be loved just as much as the old S8!
