Lamborghini has two very successful models with their Huracán LP610-4 and Aventador LP700-4. With almost 2.500 cars that are sold a year, Lamborghini still stays exclusive. But according to the Volkswagen Group, Lamborghini should sell some more cars. A third model only seems to be a matter of time.
The most important market of luxurious cars are the ultra luxurious SUVs. Bentley shows the Bentayga this year and other competitors will soon unveil their model. During the Geneva Motor Show, Road&Track spoke about Lamborghini's future with President and CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann.
Customers of Lamborghini gave a lot of positive feedback on the Asterion but Lamborghini only wants to build such a model when it's useful. The Asterion is a study model to show us what's possible. This supercar was completley focusing on the reduction of the emission without any use and added value for Lamborghini. That's why the car won't be produced in its current state. A Lamborghini SUV isn't confirmed but is also not excluded. Research shows that Lamborghini can sell just as many copies of the SUV as they do with the Huracán LP610-4. Next to that, Lamborghini states that an SUV is definitely an option because an SUV can have Lamborghini DNA, just think of the LM002 from the 80's. This model also was a premium and sporty SUV.
What will really happen at Lamborghini in the next few years? For now they focus on the Huracán and the Aventador. They will come up with a Spyder version of the Huracán and we also expect an Aventador SuperVeloce Roadster. The SUV won't be introduced before 2018. Now that Lamborghini keeps talking about the SUV we know that it's really only a matter of time!
