The 100th anniversary of BMW is the perfect occasion for the guys from München to realise a beautiful concept. Last year, we could enjoy the beautiful BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage at Villa 'd Este. This year it's the BMW 2002 Hommage's turn to draw everyone's attention. The sad thing is: BMW already announced they do not plan on putting this concept into production. Yet still, there is a lot to enjoy about this car!
It doesn't matter how badly you want it. Even if you arrive at the BMW headquarters with a wad of cash, BMW won't give in. Back to the 2002 Hommage, it's a tribute to one of the most impressive and trendsetting BMW-models from the past: the 2002 Turbo. The 2002 Hommage honors the styling cues and the technology behind the original BMW 2002.
Everywhere we look we can see parts which resemble the design from the past. The nose with the front bumper for example: BMW has combined the design of the modern M-models with a bit of retro-styling. Especially the mirrored 'turbo' on the front bumper reminds us of the good old days. On the side of the car we see a carbon fiber strip which used to be chrome on the 2002 Turbo. The stance of the car is rather epic as well: low, wide and agressive. It should be no surprise that the 2002 Hommage is an M2 under it's retro-inspired skin. A good base, with an even better design. BMW, would you please reconsider your decision of not putting this on the street?
