A GT3 Cup car for the road: Meet the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup PR

Spotter Rostyslav stumbled upon something extraordinary on the streets of London: a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup PR, finished in a stunning gloss white.

Yes, you read that right! This is a road-legal Porsche 992 GT3 Cup PR, developed by the renowned German racing team Phoenix Racing. Established in 1999 in Meuspath, near the Nürburgring, Phoenix Racing has built an impressive legacy in motorsport.

In the early 2000s, the team competed as Opel’s factory squad in the DTM, fielding the Astra and Vectra. Since 2006, they’ve raced with factory support from Audi, competing in series such as the VLN Nürburgring Endurance Championship, FIA GT1 World Championship, International GT Open, and ADAC GT Masters. Over the years, Phoenix Racing has secured numerous victories, including:

• 2000: Overall win at the Nürburgring 24 Hours with a Porsche 996 GT3-R.
• 2003: Triumph with an Opel Astra V8 Coupé.
• 2019: Victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours with an Audi R8 LMS GT3.

With this wealth of experience, Phoenix Racing has now created something extraordinary: a track-ready yet road-legal Porsche that bridges the gap between motorsport and the street.

Under the Skin of the 992 GT3 Cup PR

This isn’t just a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with a license plate. In fact, Phoenix Racing chose an unconventional starting point for their project: the 911 Carrera S from the 992 generation. While purists may lament the absence of a naturally aspirated engine, Phoenix opted for the Carrera S’s 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six engine for its tuning potential and cost-effectiveness.

Currently, the reworked engine produces around 500 hp thanks to upgraded turbos, intercoolers, and more. However, Phoenix has set its sights on pushing that output to 600-620 hp, placing it squarely between the 518-hp 992 GT3 RS and the 691-hp 991 GT2 RS.

Racing DNA, Reimagined

The GT3 Cup PR isn’t just about power; it’s a fusion of the best components from Porsche’s motorsport catalog:

• Aerodynamics: The aggressive body kit from the 992 GT3 Cup provides enhanced downforce.
• Wheels and Brakes: Center-lock wheels accommodate the larger brakes from the GT3 Cup.
• Suspension: A race-derived setup ensures track-ready handling.
• Safety: A roll cage adds structural rigidity and protection.
• Sound: A custom Capristo exhaust system delivers an exhilarating soundtrack.

This car is much more than a collection of impressive parts. It’s a carefully engineered machine designed to deliver the ultimate driving experience, combining Porsche’s road car comfort with motorsport pedigree.

With the 992 GT3 Cup PR, Phoenix Racing has created a road-legal track tool that pays homage to their storied history while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with a Porsche 911.
