Event: 2023 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

May 3, 2023, 11:31 AM Racing enthusiasts converged on the streets of Long Beach to enjoy the 48th annual Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The three-day event (April 14th-16th) drew more than 192,000 spectators; surpassing the modern-day attendance record set in 2008.

America’s longest running major “street” race attracts over 200,000 race fans to the second-busiest port in the U.S. over the course of the three-day race weekend. The first ever race at Long Beach was in 1975 with a Formula 5000 race. And the next year, Formula One came to the streets of Long Beach. Legendary names like Andretti, Villeneuve, and Unser have all won here. Mario Andretti won here four times. Al Unser Jr. won here a record-six times. Both former champions were on hand for the special anniversary weekend.

May 3, 2013, 1:34 PM For 39 years, the streets of Long Beach shut down for one weekend in April. One of the most famous street circuits in the world, the Long Beach Grand Prix draws nearly 200,000 fans over the three-day race weekend. The sun was shining over the port city all weekend long. Fans showed up in droves to experience all the festivities. The weekend features seven different types of racing including the Izod Indycar Series, American Le Mans, Drifting under the lights and stadium super trucks. Race fans are treated to one of the biggest collection of food trucks in the city, two live concerts, a lifestyle expo, and some of the fastest cars in the world.
