Classic looks and modern performance: Shelby Daytona Coupe Le Mans

The chance to spot a real Shelby Daytona Coupe is small, very small! Six cars were made and in 2009, one copy is sold for the price of 7.25 million Dollars. A lot of replicas are still built of this amazing American sports car. Exotic Auto Restoration is one of the companies that make replicas of this car. They built only six copies, just like the original. So these replicas are still not very cheap, recently one was spotted in Beverly Hills.

Exotic Auto Restoration wanted to make car which look almost the same but the original was just a bit more aggressive. The name is a direct reference to the 24 hours race of Le Mans, which was won by the Daytona Coupe in 1965. It’s all about performance and that’s why the car has wider fenders so that the wider wheels can be placed. The model has Bilstein dampers and H&R springs. Other components, which are pure functional are lightweight wheels, a carbon fiber front splitter and diffuser and fourteen inch brakes with on the front and back six pistons. You can find several details in the interior which refer to the Le Mans history of the car, such like logos and several buttons. The company paid a lot of attention to this project to eventually come up with a really beautiful car.

From outside you can’t see what engine you’re dealing with. The engine is based on the Ford 351 Windsor block and it is an option to choose for the Roush 402R V8 with 530 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The power is brought on to the road thanks to a Tremec T56 manual six speed gearbox. The performance of the spotted copy are unfortunately not known.
