Porsche is doing well. All their models are selling like crazy and when they introduce a new model it is guaranteed to have success. Just think about the Boxster, the Cayman and of course their best selling car, the cayenne. The Panamera is promising to be a success, but there are rumours about another new Porsche, a Porsche hatchback.
Why not? Almost everything the brand puts into production turns to gold. Porsche doesn't have a hatchback in its portfolio yet and it can trust on Volkswagen for the technology. A Golf could serve as a base for the new model and with some new techniques, a different body and a brand new engine you could have a new Porsche very fast. If this Porsche would be put into production it will be a competitor for the Audi S3, the BMW 1-series and the Alfa Romeo Mito GTA.
It could be a smart move looking at the current environmental laws, a car with a low emission could drastically lower the average emissions of the brand. But, for now it's just rumours, but it's not a crazy idea. You might ask yourself why a brand such as Porsche which builds high performance cars for the top market needs a hatchback , such a car doesn't really fit the brands philosophy. But that’s what everyone said when the rumours about a SUV and a four door coupé were scouring the internet, we are very curious if such a model would ever make it to production.
