The first day of the week and a new spot of the day. Dispite the weekend with a lot of nice spots is over we continue with a nice spot that appeared on Autogespot. In 2006 Mercedes showed, in cooperation with tuner AMG, that they could do some nice things with the SLK55 AMG Black Series. In 2008 they managed to do this trick again with an even fatter Black series, based on his big brother the SL-class, the SL65 AMG Black Series was born. In London on of the first ones is spotted, a well desirved spot of the day we think.
This Black Series was spotted at the Jumariah Hotel were previous summer divers supercars where spotted. Think about the Ferrari 599 Mansory Stallone and a Koenigsegg CCX (Dutch article). So this is one of the places to be in London. Dispite the fact that this car was presented in July 2008 we had to wait quite some time befor the first SL65 Black Series were spotted.
Mercedes has with the Black Series build quite a supercar, both in looks and performance. It can be placed between other supercars as the McLaren SLR and of course the CLK DTM AMG. The Black Series was meant as a race monster for the open road. Mercedes just did the trick, this SL is quite heavy with its 1870 kg, but still incredebly fast.
Due to all the power in this car, 670 bhp and 1000 nm. The V12 is modified slightly, the engine gets his power earlier and is available for a longer time. The caracter of the car is much more dynamic, the wide of the car is modified, just to improve the handlin. You can set the gearbox the way you like it best, comfortable or pure performance.
A Black Series won’t purely be bought for the track, the 150 examples of this car will also be bought just to be seen in. Most SL65 Black Series will probably be white, or like this one black, as they should be. Lets hope that some crazy tune enthusiast will paint his Black Series in a fancy color (Dutch article)!
