Record time fastest sedan back in European hands

Porsche sent out a message to other manufacturers of sporty sedans with their first sedan, the Panamera. The Ring-time of the Caddilac CTS-V, noted since 2008, has been improved. This time was 7:59.32. The most powerful Panamera, the Turbo, improved on this time with no one less than Walter Röhrl behind the wheel.

The Panamera is slightly more expensive than the Caddilac, but no one will care. It’s all about the time. Walter knocked three seconds off the record in the Panamera Turbo setting the benchmark at 7 minutes 56 seconds. The Turbo has 500bhp and 770nm of torque, enough to give this fairly heavy Porsche Panamera a top speed of over 300km/h and make it accelerate from 0-100km/h in a sharp 4.2 seconds, that’s what we call travelling in style!

Question remains who will improve on the record time on this track that is becoming more and more popular. BMW is working hard on a successor of the M5, it should get about 550bhp. For us this seems the best competitor. The Aston Martin Rapide is too underpowered to keep up with these canons. Mercedes too has an extremely fast sedan with the E63, but will it be able to break the record time? Maybe the Audi RS6 can mean something, but it too is very heavy. We shall see! Anyone have an idea?
