The 45th Annual Grand Prix of Long Beach attracted more than 187,000 fans over the three-day race weekend. Race fans from all over Southern California were able to enjoy racing of all types: NTT Indycar Series, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series, Blancpain GT World Challenge, Stadium SUPER Trucks, Formula DRIFT, and historic IMSA GTO/GTU Trans-Am all took center stage on the famed street course.
Saturday’s festivities were highlighted by the BUBBA burger Sports Car Grand Prix that saw the Action Express Cadillac DPi driven by Filipe Albuquerque and Joao Barbosa take home the overall victory. The two Acura Penske DPi’s piloted by Helio Castroneves & Ricky Taylor and Juan Pablo Montoya & Dane Cameron joined them on the podium. In the GT LeMans class, The Porsche 911 RSR driven by Earl Bamber & Laurens Vanthoor took home the victory. They were joined by the two Chevrolette Corvette C7R’s driven by Jan Magnussen & Antonio Garcia and Oliver Gavin & Tommy Milner.
Sunday’s feature race was the NTT Indycar’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. California-native Alexander Rossi won his second consecutive Long Beach GP in dominant fashion. After winning the pole on Saturday, Rossi piloted his #27 Andretti Autosport to a dominant 20-second victory over 2nd place Josef Newgarden. Defending series champion Scott Dixon took home 3rd place to round out the podium.
