Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder: real or fake?

I think the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is one of the greatest Ferrari's of all time. The most beautiful classic Ferrari? In my opinion that's the 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder. Not too long ago this one has been spotted in America, but there is quite a lot of speculation going on with this car.

Only 10 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spyders have ever been built. The car is worth a staggering amount of money, in August 2013 chassis number 10709 was auctioned off for an incredible $27,5 million dollars. The NART Spyder is the result of an idea from the American Ferrari-dealer Luigi Chinetti, NART is an abbreviation of Chinetti's North American Racing Team. He asked Sergio Scaglietti (the famous coachbuilder who also was responsible for the 250 GTO and the 250 California Spider) and Enzo Ferrari to build a couple of 275 GTB/4's without a roof. The original plan was to build the NART Spyder in a limited production run of just 25 examples which came straight from Scaglietti, but because there was hardly any demand for the car just ten of them were built in 1967 and 1968. This makes the 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder one of the most sought after and valuable Ferrari's ever. The ten NART Spyders have the chassis numbers 09437, 09751, 10139, 10219, 10249, 10453, 10691, 10709 (already mentioned above), 10749, and 11057.

Now on to the 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder that has been spotted. Actually we can only speculate regarding this car, for an official verification we have to look up the chassis number under the bonnet and see whether it matches one of the ten above. There is a rumor that this car is chassis number 10219, which is owned by Ralph Lauren at the moment. Spotter Rivitography said that this is the chassis number that was being auctioned off at RM Auctions for $27,5 million dollars, but that has just been proven wrong. Another possibility might be that this car is a replica, albeit a very convincing one.

A lot of questions and hardly any convincing evidence. What do you guys think? Is this a real 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder?
