Forgotten Audi Quattro Concept will have its offspring at the IAA

Forgotten Audi Quattro Concept will have its offspring at the IAA

The brutal Quattro Concept shown by Audi on the Paris Motor Show, was one of the highlights of the exhibition which took place in 2010. After this show, we heard nothing about the Quattro Concept expect the rumor that they would eventually produce this car. Now, this seems very unlikely but according to insiders, the Quattro chapter will be continued on this year’s IAA in Frankfurt.

According to Autozeitung.de, a new concept will be shown during this show which has to be even more spectacular than the first Quattro Concept. Again, the focus lays on the use of light weight materials. The weight will be around 1300 kilograms and that’s the same as the first Quattro Concept but 100 kilograms lighter than the standard A5 Coupé. The car is build on the A5 platform but is shortened for a more sporty performance. This makes us think of the Audi Sportquattro from the 80ies, which was build on a shortened chassis from the Quattro.

Which engine has to power this car? At first, they said it had to be the five-cylinder turbo engine which produces more than 400 hp. Now they’re talking about the V8 from the RS6 and RS7 which will be tuned to 650 hp. This would make this car the most powerful and street legal Audi ever built. The performance will be insane. The car will only need a bit more than 3 seconds to reach 100 kph and it has a top speed above 300 kph. For now, we can only wait and hope that Audi will really build this car.
