Forgotten supercar: MG XPower SV-R

The brand MG was unable to survive and did go bankrupt after its parent organization, Rover, filed for bankruptcy back in 2005. Most of us remember the MG's of the 70's and their famous Model B. But most of us may not remember MG's one and only supercar, the XPower SV-R. Based on the DeTomaso Bigua it was a rare, but fascinating supercar. This copy was recently spotted.

The base MG XPower SV was powered by a 320 PS at 6000 rpm 4.6 L Ford Modular V8 with a torque of 302 lb·ft (409 N·m) at 4750 rpm but was expensive due to the complex carbon fibre body. Both manual and automatic transmissions were available. With the manual transmission the car had a top speed of 165 mph (265 km/h) and a 0–60 mph (97 km/h) time of 5.3 seconds. The XPower SV-R was fitted with a more highly tuned 5.0 L, 32 valve V8 with 390 PS and had a top speed of around 175 mph (281.5 km/h) and a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 4.9 seconds.
We are not sure how many of these cars are still on the road and how high the demand is for this car. It is a brand with a long history and who knows, this might be a jewel in the future.
