Geneva 2013: Lamborghini Veneno

Lamborghini celebrates a big party this year. The company celebrates their fiftieth anniversary and that’s not a small thing. In Geneva, the company shows an extreme supercar which is representative for the developments the company made over the last few years. It is a Lamborghini in the most extreme possible way. After some earlier pictures and specifications, it’s now time for pictures from the Lamborghini stand.

Lamborghini said that they would bring something extreme to the Geneva Motor Show. The only competitor is Ferrari and they present the LaFerrari. This is a completely different supercar than the limited Veneno. It’s a supercar, coming straight out of your dreams. Lamborghini gives the Veneno the aerodynamic efficiency of a racecar but the car is still street legal. Every detail has a function. Minimizing the drag, optimizing and cooling the high performance engine. After the Aventador J of last year, this is the next supercar from Lamborghini with which they break boundaries on the field of design. The Veneno has extreme lines all over the car, it doesn’t matter from which angle you take a look at the car. A beautiful detail are the y-shaped headlights which we also see on the Aventador LP700-4 and the Gallardo LP560-4 2013. The back of the car makes us think of a racecar for the 24-hours of Le Mans, with its gigantic diffuser and enormous spoiler. But these things are not only to make the car look good, they’re made to raise the performance of the Veneno to a higher level.

Every Veneno gets a complete new grey-metallic paint which is mixed with individual components with visible carbon fiber. In Geneva, we see a Veneno with a complete Italian flag as extra accent of the exterior. The other three copies won’t have this Italian flag. Every one of the three copies will get only one colour of the Itlian flag, so that you can combine them to one flag. The copy which is shown in Geneva can soon be found in the Lamborghini museum.

Everything at Lamborghini is about carbon fiber nowadays. Thanks to the use of this material, the Veneno weighs only 1,450 kilograms, that’s 125 kilograms lighter than the Aventador LP700-4. Lamborghini has a power-to-weight ratio of 1,93 kilograms per horsepower. You all know the specifications already. Only 2.8 seconds are needed to reach 100 kph and the top speed is 355 kph. Let’s hope that the future owner of one of the three cars will drive it on the streets, so some spotter can spot this beautiful car!
