Geneva 2016: Ferrari GTC4Lusso

In 2011, Ferrari introduced the FF. The first Ferrari with four-wheel drive and more daily usability than ever before. After five years it was about time to renew the car. Ferrari gave the FF a big facelift and they introduce the GTC4Lusso on the Geneva Motor Show. This model is much more than just a simple facelift.

For Ferrari the GTC4Lusso is a big evolution of the sporty Grand Tourer concept. An important development is the use of four-wheel steering. Important for the improvement of the performance and usability of the car. With this renewed four-seater, Ferrari focuses on the demand of their customers for a daily usable but still sporty Ferrari. The character of the four-seater is different than a normal Ferrari. The average of driven kilometers in the FF is 30 percent higher than any other Ferrari. With the name Ferrari refers to the 330 GTC and the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso.

The GTC4Lusso is powered by a 12-cylinder engine, just like the FF. For a while we were afraid that the car would be powered by a V8 biturbo, but luckily Ferrari keeps on using the V12. The power of 690 hp is available at 8.000 rpm and the car has 697 Nm of torque. More important is the fact that 80 percent of the torque is already available at 1.750 rpm. The V12 has a completely different character than the more sporty models. The result is a more comfortable character. The top speed is over 330 kph and you will need 3.5 seconds to sprint to 100 kph.

The design is, compared to the FF, slightly changed but we can still see the shooting brake design of the FF. Ferrari Design was responsible for the design and the emphasized more of a fastback idea with muscular shoulders. Surpising detail are the double taillights. That's something we haven't seen for qutie a while on a Ferrari. We guess that the GTC4Lusso will be just as successful as the FF, or maybe even more successful?
