Geneva Motor Show: an extensive preview

The Salon International de l'Automobile de Genève is one of the biggest automotive events in the world. There are only a few places where so much automotive news per square meter can be found. Several scoops are shining in the Palexpo, both on European as on international surface. Autogespot is also present this year to report you of the 83th edition. The past months, the scoops of the show often passed by at our frontpage. In this article we will show you what you can expect as clear as possible.

In less than a week we will travel to Geneva in a sporty Ford Focus ST to report you very extended about the parlour. From 7 to 17 March you can go to Geneva yourself, to see, smell and feel the most desirable cars. Especially the big supercar manufacterers will be present emphatically. With short articles we already give you some information about some scoops.

Active aerodynamics & carbon fiber
The battle of who will make the ultimate supercar of the moment is at its highlight. McLaren, Ferrari and Lamborghini are three big names which all show a different way of making a fantastic supercar. The Brits show that they can make an excellent supercar with the MP4-12C, but that car is just a warm-up for the P1 which will be revealed in Geneva. However, the revelation already happened in in Paris, last year, now McLaren will reveal the specs of the car. Important terms which will be used many are aerodynamics and carbon fiber. The performance of this car is used on different ways, due the use of active carbon fiber.
Not only McLaren shows us a supercar, also Ferrari does. The successor the Enzo Ferrari is the ultimate scoop of Geneva, when you ask us. It will be the most powerful Ferrari ever, the first ever hybrid Ferrari and maybe the last V12-powered Ferrari. According to insiders this car will rewrite the rulebook of supercars, together with the P1.

Then, there are two other names with some good news, Koenigsegg and Lamborghini. Two manufacturers which are both specialized in carbon fiber, and they both use that experience. Koenigsegg comes up with a special model to celebrate their ten year-anniversary, Lamborghini does the same for their fifty year-anniversary. We haven’t heard any rumor about Koenigsegg, but we drown in the rumors of the Lamborghini. A limited Aventador LP700-4, a conceptcar with a V12 in the front, whatever you say, it passed the revue. What we do know, is that they will both cause a lot of excitement!

German civil war
The so-called bhp-race between the brands Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW is over in theory. Nowadays it’s not only about bhp, but also about driving fun and more performance with fewer cylinders. BMW M-Motorsport is conspicious about one’s absence, Mercedes-Benz and Audi do the opposite. The guys from Ingolstadt are present with the RS6 Avant C7, RS7 C7, S3 Sportback and RS Q3, all cars which combine everyday usability with enormous performances.
AMG trows with bhp’s in Geneva, both for small as bigger cars. What about the though A 45 AMG with 340 bhp or the totally mental SLS AMG Black Series. What’s the most special is the E 63 AMG, which is available with 4MATIC from now on. With this, the battle with Audi’s Quattro GmbH is becoming more serious than ever. The RS7 needs 3.9 seconds to reach hundred kph, where the E 63 AMG S does the same trick after 3.6 seconds. These cars are just refined supercars in suit. The amount of performance-models by Mercedes and Audi is from a completely different level!

Geneva Motor Show: an extended previewSpoilers and loads of horsepower
The coming weeks Geneva will also be the walhalla for tuning freaks. Tuners like Mansory, FAB Design, Brabus and many other names will give a fabulous show like every year with their bizarre creations. Supercars with bodykits completely made out of carbon fiber, the weirdest colours, wider bodyworks, everything can be found when it comes to individualisation. The growing markets for supercars make the ask for something really unique also grow. What Mansory will show us is a surprise. Gemballa and FAB Design both come up with their version of the McLaren MP4-12C. A now tuner for Geneva is Project Kahn, who will show their version of the new Range Rover.

What else can we find in Geneva?
Without concept cars Geneva isn’t what it would be now. Like every year, the place is crammed full of concepts. This year two of them will be spotlighted the most. First we have the Dutch with the Spyker B6 Concept, the car which should reignite the fury of the company, and the Pininfarina Sergio Concept, a car which is designed to be a tribute to the big designer, who sadly passed away last year. But, this is just the tip of the iceberg, so many other scoop can be found the coming weeks. What about new Flying Spur by Bentley, the American Corvette Stingray and the most powerful and sporty Rolls-Royce ever made. It’s just too many to mention all. You can find an indication below of the scoops we will present you very extended. Like usually, during the press days the site will be filled with news. So, keep updated with Autogespot from Monday the 4th of March.
