Just before the meteorological summer started McLaren announced a new car. This car is of course the McLaren 570S Spider, a convertible without compromises. It handels as well and is as fast as it's older brother and all that without a roof!
The McLaren 570S Spider is only 46 kilos (100lbs) heavier than the coupe, which means that performance wise it is the same. With the roof closed the top speed is still a good 328 km/h (204mp/h) and with the top down the top speed is reduced to 315 km/h(195 mp/h), this because of the increased wind resistance. The system used to open and close the roof comes from the 650S and the 675 LT Spider and allowed the top to be operated in only 15 seconds. The roof is operable until 40 km/h (25 mp/h). Behind the occupants McLaren placed a small window which can be opened when the top is on. This allows the exhaust sound to reach the cabin as well as some fresh air.
Nothin much has changed to the exterior. There is a small difference in the rear spoiler. The real spoiler is 12mm higher to compensate for the change in body. The first 400 units of the 570S will be a Launch Edition. This following the success of the 720S Launch Edition. McLaren also added three new colors to the pallet, one of which having an exotic but Dutch feeling to it. Curacao Blue, Vega Blue and Sicilian Yellow are the names of the new colors added to the pallet, which brings the total number of optional colors to 20.
