How to Prep for a Car Show

How to Prep for a Car Show

Are you a lover of all cars classic and new? Do you have a vintage or sports car that you’ve been dying to show off? If so, it’s time to pull the cover off your ride and head to a car show. Not only do you get the chance to show off your vehicle, but you can check out other cool rides, win prizes, and earn a reputation along the way. If you’re going to enter your car in a show, however, there are some things you’ll want to do in advance to be prepared.

Decide on Transportation
You’ve worked hard to keep your ride in mint condition, so don’t run the risk of causing damage to your ride by driving it all the way to the car show. There are plenty of other ways to get it there. You could hire a car transportation company to ship the ride to the event.
You could also make a road trip out of it for you, your significant other, family, and/or friends. Simply grab your recreational vehicle and hitch your car to the end. Make sure you have the RV serviced. You can also do a few things to give the RV a makeover so you can look great pulling up. Have it detailed, invest in RV awning fabric, clean the tires really good, and you’re ready to hit the road.

Detail and Clean Your Ride
If you want to turn heads at the car show presentation means everything. Having your car thoroughly cleaned and detailed from top to bottom is a great place to start. You could always take it to a carwash and have them do it for you, but there’s something special about doing it yourself. Grab a few car wash and wax supplies from the auto parts store and get to it. Be sure to scrub and vacuum every part of the car from the inside out. Then, finish it off with a nice wax. Don’t forget to clean the tires, rims, and engine compartments well too.

Invest in New Tires
Speaking of tires, if the ones you currently have on your ride have been worn down from all those joyrides it’s best to invest in new ones. Tires are to cars what shoes are to people. They help to complete the look and can easily be the difference between you winning and losing the competition.

Things to Pack
Once you’ve gotten your ride all decked out for the car show, you’re ready to start packing for the event. There are a few things outside of your vehicle that you want to make sure you bring along with you. For starters, be sure to pack some additional cleaning, waxing, and buffing supplies. You never know what could happen to your car before, during, or after it’s been transported. You want to be able to easily touch up your ride so that it looks good as new.

Secondly, you’re going to want to make sure that you have some car literature on hand for your viewers to have. As car enthusiasts come to check out your ride, they’re going to want to know details like the amount of work you’ve put into it, the quality of vehicle it is, and more. You can save yourself some time and keep your audience informed by having things like owners manuals and a photo album which documents the restoration process you went through with the car.

If you love cars and happen to be the proud owner of something unique, car shows are where you should be. With the right ride and preparation, you get to travel the country, connect with other car enthusiasts, show off your ride, and perhaps even win a few prizes along the way. So, use the above-mentioned tips to start getting your car ready for the next grand event.
