Yesterday evening, the Porsche 918 Spyder was presented on a special event and today the car is shown on the exhibition. The eventual production version is ready and will compete with the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1. Maybe you know it already but we can’t publish an article about this supercar without mentioning its specifications.
The Porsche 918 Spyder produces up to 895 hp. This leaves the car just a step behind the competitors from Italy and England. The sprint to 100 kph takes only 2.8 seconds and the top speed isn’t published yet. Thanks to the combination of an electrical power train and a big V8. This makes it a very powerful car but also a very economical car. It has to be able to use only 3.0 to 3.3 liters per 100 kilometers. You have to pay some more for the special Weissach package but the standard price of the 918 Spyder will be near the price of the Ferrari and McLaren.
The Weissach package makes this car a bit more sharp. The car loses 35 kilograms of weight and this is partly done by replacing the paint for a wrap, just like the Martini copy we’ve seen on spyshots.
Interesting fact is the lap time on the Nordschleife. This morning, Porsche announced that the 918 Spyder did a lap on the Nordschleife in just 6 minutes and 57 seconds and that’s very fast. This results in the record for production cars on the Nordschleife. Only the Radica SR8 is two seconds faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder but this car isn’t completely production ready and aims more for track racing.
