Koenigsegg Agera RS roars through London - A rare sight six years after the last one

London has been a hotspot for hypercar sightings lately, and we've seen some jaw-dropping machines cruising through the city. From Lando Norris' McLaren P1 to a rare Lamborghini Centenario, the streets have been graced by automotive royalty. And now, one of the 25 Koenigsegg Agera RS models has made an appearance!

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this Swedish beast in London either - it was spotted on Christmas, even with the top down. It’s amazing to think that not too long ago, hypercars in winter were a rare sight, but now, no matter the season, multi-million-dollar machines are out and about.

The last time an Agera RS was spotted in London before this? Way back in 2018! That time, it was a stunning black example with red accents - so it’s been six years since we've seen one of these beasts in the city.

The Agera RS remains one of the ultimate road and track weapons from Koenigsegg, blending cutting-edge tech from the One:1 program with the usability of the Agera S and R. Produced from 2015 to 2018, it offers the perfect mix of extreme performance and practicality, including a luggage compartment and a removable hardtop that can be stored inside for open-air driving whenever you want.

Koenigsegg packed the RS with enhancements, including advanced lightweight sound insulation, a track-optimized front splitter, front winglets, side skirts, an advanced dynamic underbody flap system, and a fully active rear spoiler delivering up to 450 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. Additional aerodynamic tweaks, increased power, and a raised RPM limit made it an absolute monster.

Despite these upgrades, the RS actually weighs less than the Agera S and R, thanks to cutting-edge composites and layup techniques from the One:1. Optional features included Koenigsegg’s active self-leveling chassis package, 3G-connected Pre-Active chassis setups, alternative aero packages, and active sound cancellation.

The numbers are still mind-blowing even a decade later:

• 1,150 BHP (Standard Output on Petrol)
• 1,360 BHP (Megawatt Upgrade)
• 1,280 Nm Torque
• 485 Kg Downforce at 250 km/h
• 1,395 Kg Curb Weight

Of course, the Agera RS will forever be remembered for its record-breaking top speed run. On November 4, 2017, a customer-owned RS set the world record for the fastest homologated production car on a public road, hitting a two-way average of 446.97 km/h (277.87 mph) in Nevada. That’s insane.

Bugatti fired back on August 2, 2019, with a 490.848 km/h (304.773 mph) run at Ehra-Lessien in a pre-production Chiron Super Sport prototype, verified by TÜV. However, unlike Koenigsegg's record, Bugatti's run was only in one direction. The production version of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ shares the same engine, gearbox, and bodywork as the prototype but has no roll cage, different seats, an adjusted ride height, and an electronically limited top speed of 440 km/h (273.4 mph).

The battle for top speed supremacy between Koenigsegg and Bugatti has been nothing short of legendary, and it’s thrilling to see these two brands pushing the limits of what's possible. Even after all these years, the Agera RS remains a true engineering marvel and catching one on the streets of London is a moment every car enthusiast dreams of!
