The car market in China is booming and we often see special editions of car made for China only. Despite all high taxes on the supercars, they still are sold good. Koenigsegg made a unique Agera R for a Chinese man, but the owner didn’t want to pay taxes for the car. He didn’t and soon he noticed the consequences: the car was taken by the police.

When the car arrived the port of Zhanjiang the autorities saw this car was smuggled to China. The taxes on supercars are extremely high, high enough for this owner to take a risk to save a lot of money. The car costs 30 million Yuan in China, which comes down to €3.691.530,-. Without all those taxes it is ‘just’ €1.811.873,-, so we can conclude that the taxes are up to almost 50%. The Chinese media reports that with this Koenigsegg also a Rolls-Royce, Range Rover and Porsche are found. How this is going to end we don’t know, but the taxes the owner will find in his further live can be even higher. That makes cars like Koenigseggs even more expensive.
