Lamborghini may choose another design vision

With the Asterion LPI900-4 Lamborghini showed us that they are not only able to design extreme supercars, they can also design something less extreme. The design team had a tough challenge for the development of this concept car. It's possible that we see elements from the Asterion in future models of Lamborghini.

Chief of Design Filippo Perini spoke with Automotive News about the development of the Asterion. They had to build a supercar with modern technologly, Lamborghini DNA but not the extreme lines we know from the Aventador LP700-4 and Huracán LP610-4. Especially the heritage was important in the design of the Asterion.

Lamborghini wants to understand that the market of supercars isn't only about the design vision Lamborghini now has. It's allowed to be less extreme and more elegant. The most important car which inspired Lamborghini for the Asterion is the Miura. This might also indicate the fact that Lamborghini is working on a third model. Even the biggest competitor Ferrari has a wider range of models than Lamborghini. Another aspect for Lamborghini is the fact that founder Ferrucio Lamborghini built Gran Turismos in the first years of Lamborghini, the 350GT, Espada, Jalpa and Urraco. Only later Lamborghini went more extreme with the Countach.

Perini says that Lamborghini won't completley change their identity but they do want to show that there's more than the styling they use now. It looks like an indication that Lamborghini is still thinking of a third model.
