Maserati Merak SS is special but not very pretty

Not everyones knows it, but a long time ago, Maserati was owned by Citroën. One of the products of that period is the Maserati Merak, with the SS as top of the range model. The influence of Citroën to the looks is very clear, but that doesn’t make it less exciting to see.

The design origins in 1972 and is a collection of straight lines. The sharp nose looks very sporty, a big contrast to the rude back. Two pipes, which lie quite open give the six cylinder enough breath. 220 hp is released to the backwheels, enough for some sporty driving. This models knows several similarities to the Citroën SM and Maserati Bora, because the last models of the Merak SS had the dashboard of the Bora, while the Citroën SM is special because it shares technology with the Maserati’s. When you ask us, Italian sportivity will always be unique, despite this car isn’t rocket fast it has a good proportion of emotion.
